You're booked in

Hi, I'm .

I'm looking forward to meeting you on your introductory call. This page covers how the call works, what I'll need from you and exactly when fees apply, so it's worth ten minutes before we speak.

About me

You're booked in

Welcome to Blincoe.
Here's what to expect.

Thanks for booking your first call with us. This page covers how the call works, what we'll need from you and exactly when fees apply, so it's worth ten minutes before we speak.

A two-way partnership

What to expect from me, and what I'll need from you

What to expect, and what we'll need

What you can expect from me

What you can expect from us

  • Advice across investment management, retirement planning and tax efficiency.
  • Detailed cashflow modelling that shows, year by year, how your money is likely to play out, and how it holds up if markets are unkind.
  • Ideas brought to you, rather than me waiting to be asked.Ideas brought to you, rather than us waiting to be asked.
  • A same-day reply whenever possible.
  • Fixed charges, agreed up front and never a percentage of your wealth.
  • Independent advice, with no commission and no product bias.
  • Me, as your named planner, from the first call onwards.A named planner who knows your case from start to finish.
  • Plain English, with every term explained.

What I'll need from you

What we'll need from you

  • Your full financial picture. The more I can see, the better I can advise.Your full financial picture. The more we can see, the better we can advise.
  • Organised information. Much of the value comes from modelling, and better inputs make a sharper plan.
  • Prompt replies to requests, so things keep moving.
  • A willingness to act. A plan only works once it's put into practice.
  • Commitment to the annual planning meeting and mid-year review, which keep the plan on track.
  • Your questions, as many as you like.

Before we speak

A little prep goes a long way

There's nothing formal to prepare. A few minutes of thought beforehand makes our first conversation far more useful, and I'll guide the rest.

Think about what you want

What would a good life look like this year, and in ten years' time?

Gather the basics

Rough figures for pensions, savings, investments and income. Exact numbers can follow later.

Note your questions

Anything that's been on your mind about money, tax or retirement. Bring the list.

Involve your partner

If your finances are shared, it's best if you're both on the call.

How it works

Building your financial masterplan

Five stages, at your pace. Some take a single meeting; others depend on information from third parties. You'll always know which stage you're at.

Stage 01

Vision

We start with what a good life looks like for you, and what you want your money to make possible.

Stage 02

Analysis

I look at how well your current investments, pensions and protection are serving you, and where they could work harder.

We look at how well your current investments, pensions and protection are serving you, and where they could work harder.

Stage 03

Proposal

I set out the opportunities to improve your position and talk each one through with you, backed by a cashflow model that projects your finances forward year by year.

Stage 04

Implementation

Once you're happy, we put the plan into action and handle the investments, paperwork and admin.

Stage 05

Review & adapt

We review the plan at your annual meeting and mid-year review, and adjust it as your life changes.

A note on timing

To advise you properly I usually need information directly from your existing pension and investment providers. That comes through a Letter of Authority (LoA), and providers can take several weeks to reply. It's the one part of the process I can't control, so a pause here is normal. We chase them on your behalf and I'll keep you updated.

Our fees

When fees apply, and what they are

£

You won't pay anything until the plan we've agreed is implemented and the first contributions or transfers are complete.

Everything before that point comes at no charge: our first conversation, the analysis, the cashflow modelling and the full presentation of your plan. If you decide not to go ahead, there's nothing to pay. If you do, the charge is a fixed pound figure, agreed in writing before any work begins.

Ongoing planning, per month

Core

£200/mo

Straightforward pensions, ISAs and day-to-day planning.

Core Plus

£300/mo

Joint finances, early retirement goals and a wider mix of accounts.

Comprehensive

£400/mo

Planning or entering retirement, with a focus on cashflow.

Complex

£500/mo

Trusts, offshore assets or detailed estate planning.

One-off set-up fees

Base set-up feeDesigning and creating your overall plan £500
Pension transfersPer pension transferred above £50,000. No charge on pots below that. £500 / pension
ISA & GIA transfersPer account transferred above £25,000. No charge below that. £250 / account

Your ongoing plan is recommended on how complex your needs are, not how much you have, and every one-off fee is confirmed in writing before any work begins.

The full picture

Other costs to be aware of

The planning fee is only part of the cost. When you invest, two other charges apply. Your personal illustration confirms the exact figures before anything goes ahead.

Platform charge

The platform that holds and administers your investments charges typically 0.15% to 0.20% a year, and less on larger portfolios. Platforms are chosen on value, and Blincoe receives nothing from them.

Fund charges

The funds themselves carry an ongoing charge (the OCF) of around 0.35% a year on our core investment proposition, paid to the fund managers, not to us.

Every cost that applies to you is set out in your personal illustration and service guide before you commit. The value of investments and any income from them can fall and you may get back less than you invested.

The fairness test

What a fixed fee is worth over time

The fee comparison shows the gap between a fixed fee and a typical percentage-based adviser, and how that difference compounds when it stays invested.
