Introducing Blincoe Financial Planning

Introducing Blincoe, a brand new independent financial planning firm that aims to deliver high quality advice, at a fair and reasonable price.

"
IT’S ADVICE JIM, BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT
"

What we do

We build financial masterplans that enable clients to feel financially secure and live the lives they want to live.

A Financial Plan is essentially a road map to get you from where you are now to where you want to be. It’s about making the best use of your financial resources to do more of the things that are important to you and ultimately, to live your very best life.

We start with the destination – we’ll learn what ‘makes you tick’, i.e. your needs, wants and aspirations. We’ll then build a plan designed to achieve your goals in the most effective manner.

Of course, ‘life is no straight line’ – circumstances change, objectives change, and regulations change. It’s therefore important to review and recalibrate your plan on a regular basis, such that it evolves with you.

In terms of specific areas of advice, whilst no two plans will be the same, most will comprise some or all of the following:

  • Retirement planning – Are you setting aside enough for retirement, when can you afford to retire, and what might that retirement look like when you get there?
  • Investment planning – Are your savings and investments working hard you, and are they structured in the most tax efficient way?
  • Protection – Do you have sufficient insurance in place so that your loved ones would be able to maintain a good quality of life should something happen to you?
  • Cashflow modelling – We’ll create a visual projection of your future financial position. This will help gauge whether you’re on track to achieve your goals, if not, what needs to be done.

And in terms of specific products that we advise on, this includes pensions, ISAs, investment accounts, investment bonds, tax-advantaged products (e.g. Venture Capital Trusts ‘VCTs’, Enterprise Investment Schemes ‘EISs’, Business Relief investments), trust investments, and personal protection policies (e.g. life insurance, income protection, etc.).

VCTs, EISs and Business Relief investments are high risk products and not suitable for the majority of retail investors.

Why we do it

Creating wealth, saving time, and providing peace of mind

From our conversations with clients, the three main benefits of having a Financial Plan in place are as follows:

  1. Wealth creation – there’s no shying away from it, we’re in the business of creating wealth. This comes in the form of making sure your money is working hard for you, paying less tax, and keeping costs down.
  2. Saving you time – life is busy and personal finances can often take a back seat. We’re here to take the weight off – we’ll help you organise your finances and then optimise them.
  3. Peace of mind – we’ll give you peace of mind that you’re ‘doing the right things’ in terms of pensions, investments and tax efficiency, and that you’re on track to achieve your goals and live a life free from money worries.

Why Blincoe?

We believe in fixed fees, a low cost rules-based investment approach, and utilising the best available technology

There are thousands of advice firms in the UK, so why might you consider working with Blincoe?

We believe the following sets us apart:

  1. Fixed fees – Most advisers charge a percentage of assets under management, typically around 0.5-1.0% per year. However, we believe this penalises larger clients and those with relatively straightforward needs (e.g. younger investors, some years off retirement). We therefore prefer a fixed fee model, based on case complexity and the projected number of hours to deliver our advice and services – i.e. you’ll pay for the advice you actually need.
  2. Rules-based investing – We endorse a systematic investment approach, characterised by a high degree of diversification, low portfolio turnover and low cost. This is based on a series of rules or investment principles, full details of which can be find on our website..
  3. Tech-focused – We aim to harness the best available technology to enhance client experience. This translates to greater transparency in terms of how your plan is performing, less paperwork (no more 50-page reports) and lower advice fees.

Please take a look at our manifesto, which provides additional detail on what we stand for – our principles, declarations, and beliefs. And ultimately, why we think we’re different to the majority of other advisers in the UK.

A passion for planning

We love what we do

The final thing to say is that we truly love what we do. It’s a genuine pleasure and a privilege to meet with new and existing clients and ultimately, to help them make the best of their financial capital to do more of what’s important to them.

That is real Financial Planning
